GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) - Garden City Council discussing the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.
This during its annual meeting inside City Hall.
Mayor Don Bethune telling us he is pleased with the recovery efforts.
He says City employees, residents and first responders all working together make the cleanup process easier, but there are a few things to improve on before the next storm hits.
"I guess we were caught off guard about the fact that residents couldn't come back in. I think that's something we need to work with the county on. Some of our residents weren't happy that it took so long to get them back in, but that was by design for safety reasons," said Mayor Bethune.
Mayor Bethune says the plan moving forward is to pick up all of the storm debris and then make an after action report, detailing all things that went right along with what went wrong.
