SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club wants to celebrate the superheroes in our community Saturday, October 22, at Lake Mayer Park at 8 a.m.

The 2nd annual Superhero Fun Run 5k will be a community event this year, instead of a fundraiser. Runners can still pay and register to compete, but everyone else can participate for free to honor the unsung superheroes of Hurricane Matthew.

“This time with Hurricane Matthew, we're making it a community event celebrating unsung heroes: military, National Guard, linemen, to help us get through this tough time,” said Danielle Paul, with the Boys and Girls Club.

Families are encouraged to dress up in their favorite costumes, and there will even be a special appearance by Split from the Savannah Bananas.
