Tybee residents are now finding it much easier to pick up their mail.

The Postal Service stationed a mobile retail van on the island so people can pick up and drop off their mail.

The post office building was damaged in the hurricane and since then, residents have been standing in long lines at the Wilmington Island office.

Longtime island resident, Dale Williams says it only took five minutes to get his mail Friday. A big change from the last couple of weeks.

"It was a good chance to talk to everyone on Tybee you haven't seen for a while and that was good for the first couple of two-hour waits, but it's not a long-term solution,” said Williams.

Fixing the post office building on Tybee is expected to take about six weeks.

You can find the mobile van at the post office location on Campbell Avenue. Mail pick up hours are Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
