A man who pointed a gun at a police officer is recovering in the hospital after that officer shot him in the leg. It happened around 4:30 Saturday afternoon when Savannah Chatham Police officer Kendall Brown tried to stop a white Mazda 929 on Ash Street.
The driver of the car, 19 year old Kevin Brown, took off. He and three other people bailed out of the car when they turned onto Park Avenue and lost a tire after they jumped the curb. Officer Brown chased Wilson between some houses when Wilson turned and pointed a gun at him. Brown fired several shots, hitting him in the leg.
Paramedics rushed Wilson to Memorial Health University. He was reported to be in good condition on Saturday night. He's facing several charges, including aggravated assault on a police officer.
In accordance with Savannah Chatham Metropolitan Police Department policy, Officer Brown is on administrative leave while police investigate.
