SOUTH CAROLINA (WTOC) -

The South Carolina Department of Transportation has provided an update on road conditions in the state after Hurricane Matthew.

Officials say although crews have completed the removal of downed trees and debris from the roadways, there is nearly 1,200 employees still working on repairs.

55 roads and 6 bridges remain closed due to damage sustained from the storm, which is down from 4,081 road closures at the height of the hurricane.

South Carolina DOT officials expect some of those roads to be open again by Thanksgiving.
