SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The City of Savannah and Chatham County officials want your input about broadband internet and data services across the county.
They have begun the development of a Broadband Fiber-Optic Feasibility Study, which will examine how the broadband infrastructure is servicing the entire county for a number of purposes - the main being that residents, anchor institutions, and businesses have access to the services they need and that those services are competitively priced.
"Well, we hear a lot about people needing access to jobs and being able to fill out applications online, or even being able to study or do your homework online, so we are just trying to see if that's the accurate need. We know that there are some businesses that would like to come to Savannah/Chatham County area, but maybe we don't have the right fibers to support that, so hopefully through this study, we will define what our needs are and we'll have a plan to address that for the long haul," said Tara Jennings, Director, Coastal Georgia Indicators Coalition.
