CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - The Georgia Forestry Commission put in fire breaks to prevent a fire in Savannah's Georgetown area from rekindling and spreading.
The fire broke out Tuesday afternoon and stretched two miles from Chevis Road to Brasseler Boulevard.
Southside firefighters fought it for hours and even used a helicopter to drop water on the flames.
They believe the fire started from a spark coming off a passing train that landed in dry brush. The fire is out, but Georgia Forestry is on scene keeping a close watch for hot spots.
