JESUP, GA (WTOC) - A landmark in Jesup will get some improvements thanks to the USDA.
City and county leaders celebrated a USDA grant Monday for $55,000 to replace the original roof on top of the Farmers Market. The community reopened the market two years ago after sitting vacant for decades.
It gives local vendors a place to sell and customers a place to support local growers.
Organizers say this extends the life of the building.
"It means another 50 years of a nice covered pavilion that our customers and sellers can come to and be out of the weather and be in a safe place," said Candee Harris, a member of the Farmers Market board.
The market sees hundreds of visitors on the days they're open. The grant also covers fans to help with summertime heat.
