SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - For 19 years now, one of the scariest haunted houses in Savannah hasn't been a house at all but a forest.
The Moose Lodge Haunted Forest has also scared up tens of thousands in donations to the Willett Children's Hospital. For several nights, volunteers spent hours creating the spookiest looks their imaginations could dig up, then head into the forest waiting for their next customer.
Hurricane Matthew set them back a few days but nothing will frighten these volunteers away from putting on an amazing show.
"We just love coming out here and you know, providing a community service and raising money for the kids and donating it locally to the local hospital and making sure that the local kids are taken care of. That's what the Moose Lodge is all about, taking care of its own and doing a community service," said Danny Walker, a volunteer.
The line usually has people waiting at least an hour. Saturday night more than 900 walked through the haunted forest.
They are still tallying the number who came through Monday.
