SOUTH CAROLINA (WTOC) - Progress will continue in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew in the Lowcountry, as the South Carolina Department of Transportation says only 37 roads and 7 bridges remain closed in the state.
In addition to infrastructure repair, SCDOT is also working to remove storm debris.
Teams have finished assessing areas with known damage, but in some areas the water needs to recede before they can make the assessments.
SCDOT bridge inspectors are also working to assess support structures for damage.
Crews are currently assisting with 36 different repairs in 8 counties.
