Another Smash-and-Grab in Savannah

The rash of smash-and-grab burglaries is continuing. The latest target was a convenience store on Ogeechee Road in Savannah.

About 1:45am this morning, someone broke the glass in the door of a BP gas station and convenience store next to Hardee's. But this time the suspect was spotted by a man working on cars at a business nearby.

The witness says he heard the glass break, then ran to see a dark-colored import-type sports car pulling away. He says the car had a loud muffler. He got into his truck and tried to follow the car, but it sped away in the rain.

Although the burglar only got some cigarettes, the owner of business will have to pay for the damages to the door and glass.

Anyone with information about this burglary is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 234.2020.
