The Third ID is already known around the world as the "dog faced soldiers" thanks to a song from generations ago. Now there is some new music to salute the division.
The musical piece called The Rock premiered in Hinesville last night at Brewton-Parker College. The title refers to one of the division's nicknames, the Rock of the Marne, from a decisive battle during World War I.
"We want to in any way we are able to strengthen the connection that holds us tightly to that post, that fort, to those men and women of great valor who serve a cause greater than themselves," said Rev. Alan Miller.
The Hinesville Area Arts Council commissioned the original piece for the Bradwell Band.
