CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) - Police officers and citizens in Chatham County were honored for their hard work and commitment to their community in Forsyth Park, Wednesday afternoon.
Savannah-Chatham Metro Police held a promotion ceremony, where they promoted 16 officers to new positions within the department. Also, Police Chief Jack Lumpkin honored multiple citizens, businesses, and public safety partners who helped the police department during Hurricane Matthew. Many of them say they were just thankful to keep power through the storm, and that they want to give back.
"Truly, it was a greater blessing for us that our place was graced with 60 some police officers, and we had a marvelous time getting to know them and appreciating them for their service," said Brian Fenster, Manager, Mate Factor Cafe.
