Motorcycle catches fire after two-vehicle wreck on Robert Smalls Pkwy in Burton

BURTON, SC (WTOC) -

A motorcycle caught fire after a two-vehicle wreck on Robert Smalls Parkway in Burton on Wednesday.

The motorcyclist was pulled from the flaming motorcycle by a bystander and was being assisted by two off-duty nurses from Beaufort Memorial Hospital and two off-duty paramedics who happened to witness the wreck.

Burton firefighters were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in front of the Zaxby’s restaurant just after 1:30 p.m.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames while assisting the injured motorcyclist, who appeared to have suffered serious injuries in the wreck. The motorcycle was consumed by the fire, and the Toyota suffered minor fire damage.

The motorcyclist was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital, while occupants from the Toyota were not transported.
