STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) -

Georgia Southern University does play Thursday night, and one student group hopes to fill the stadium with blue and white.

The University Programing Board is holding their annual gear swap this week. Students can bring shirts or hats from other schools and trade them for a free homecoming t-shirt.

The shirts are $2 otherwise. Organizers say the shortened homecoming week has just made them work that much harder.

“Yes, it's a little different having homecoming on a Thursday. But we'll make it work. We came out with the school spirit campaign. So everything worked out well,” said GSU student Tyra Hoyle.

Those old shirts and hats will go to charity. Students have competitions this week and a parade Thursday afternoon.
