Metro police investigating fatal shooting on Riviera Dr.

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are working to figure out what led to a man being shot around 6 p.m. Thursday in the Bona Bella area of town.

Police found the shooting victim along the 2400 block of Riviera Drive, but not the person who pulled the trigger. Cequan Borrum, 21, had serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Police told WTOC he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Detectives spent the hours following looking for any clues that might point to why and where this happened.

"The shooting victim was located on the 2400 block of Riviera Drive, but it's believed, at this time, that it did not occur at that precise location. It's believed that the shooting victim may have traveled there on foot after the incident occurred and collapsed there," said SCMPD Public Affairs Officer Eunicia Baker.

People living along nearby Betty Drive say they heard multiple shots, and at first thought the gunfire was fireworks.

Anyone with information on this case should contact the SCMPD tip line by dialing 912.525.3124.

Information may also be forwarded to CrimeStoppers at 912.234.2020. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
