SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Stocking the pantry with a charity basketball game.
The annual "Slam Dunk Hunger" event happened Thursday night at the Frank Callen Boys and Girls Club.
The 6th annual game was rescheduled during Hurricane Matthew.
Each year, it's hosted by Metro's Savannah Impact Program. The game includes a slam dunk showdown, 3-point contest and live music. All for one canned good donation.
"This is exciting to bring the youth and the community and the adults together, even our police. Our officers to play with the community. So this is exciting for us," said Savannah Impact Program Director Sala Merritt.
All of the canned good donations go to the Social Apostolate of Savannah's food and meal assistance initiatives.
