STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Statesboro hopes to soon show its visitors why it's one of America's Best Communities.
Community leaders broke ground on a new arched entrance sign between Georgia Southern University and downtown Statesboro, dubbed The Blue Mile.
They're one of eight cities in the finals of a multi-million dollar contest. They'll use some of the money awarded in the semifinals.
Organizers say it's about revitalizing a path between two important areas.
"Definitely we know it's more than just South Main. We want to go to College Street, and Walnut Street and all the way to Highway 80," said committee member Keely Fennell.
The winning community will get $3 million for their improvement plans. Sponsors will announce their top three choices in April.
