Consider This!: Good News 11/17

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - This week we recognize three people who epitomize what makes living in our community so special.

First, if you doubt whether the American Dream is still alive you should talk to Dr. Jim Andrews and Ellen Bolch. Dr. Andrews was born on a small farm in northern Georgia but studied hard and earned a Ph. D. in biochemistry. The knowledge he gained enabled him to found Savannah Labs, which became one of the largest private environmental testing labs in the country.

Ellen Bolch was a very shy little girl who conquered her fears and went on to earn a master's degree in nursing. She used her education to become a pioneer in the home health industry by founding the THA group, which specializes in helping people manage their conditions at home.

Dr. Andrews and Ms. Bolch were inducted into the Junior Achievement Savannah Business Hall of Fame this week, an honor bestowed on those business leaders who combine success and community spirit while living the American Dream.

Another great honor this week for a member of our WTOC family. City leaders in Glennville presented Dal Cannady with a key to the city.

Dal was in town to cover a groundbreaking when he was surprised with the honor. Mayor Chris Roessler noted Dal's coverage of Glennville and Tattnall County through the years.

We send our congratulations to those three and to everyone who makes the news good this week.
