A Freeze Warning is in effect for a large portion of the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry, away from the beach.
The combination of dry air, calm winds and clear sky will cause a rapid drop in temperature after sunset. Plan on a temperature in the 40s by 8 p.m. and upper 30s in many areas at midnight.
Temperatures will bottom-out near freezing along Interstate 95 and between 28° and 31° further inland. Freezing conditions may last for up to four hours away from the coast.
In Chatham County, Monday morning low temperatures will range from near freezing in Pooler, to mid-30s downtown and upper 30s on the islands. A low temperature near 40° is expected along the immediate coast.
If you have sensitive vegetation, make sure that precautions have been taken it protect it. Also, be mindful of your pets as it becomes increasingly cold overnight.
Temperatures will rebound back into the upper 50s and 60s Monday afternoon under plentiful sunshine. Another round of cold temperatures is likely Tuesday morning.
