STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Hospital volunteers in Statesboro continue their tradition of helping feed the less fortunate.
Members of the East Georgia Regional Medical Center Auxiliary donated 70 Thanksgiving meals to Christian Social Ministries to distribute. The auxiliary raised the money to purchase the basic fixings for a holiday meal and a voucher for a turkey.
The director of CSM tells us so many live right on the poverty line where a big meal would be impossible.
"If they're paying rent, paying the light bill, if they buy medicine then they don't have extra to buy a Thanksgiving meal and that means a lot," said John Long, with CSM.
This is the sixth year the auxiliary has bought the meals.
