Metro searching for 3 suspects after Ardsley Park carjacking

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are looking for three suspects after a violent carjacking in the Ardsley Park neighborhood, Tuesday evening.

Neighbors are pretty shaken up after the incident in the 200 block of 51st Street. A man in his 70s was approached by several suspects who pepper-sprayed him and took his wallet and keys before taking off in the car.

Police say the car that was stolen was a 2015 black Mazda 3, and it was a rental car. According to a friend, the man was visiting from England but formerly lived in Savanah. He suffered a broken arm in the scuffle but he is expected to be okay.

This isn't the first time he's been targeted. During his visit last year, he had his wallet stolen. Neighbors say while there have been petty crimes around the area, there hasn't been anything this violent.

"You start to question whether you can live here anymore. I know that I won't leave, but I know it's crossed my neighbor's minds. We've all talked about it. Something that could occur and happened here has happened right in front of us," said Nick Palumbo, VP of Ardsley Neighborhood Association.

Police are still investigating. If you have any information, please call Crimestoppers.
