TYBEE ISLAND, GA (WTOC) -

More than 150 runners came out to Tybee Island for the 8th annual Pickle Run at Huc-a-Poos on Saturday.

The 5K beach and road race is called the "Pickle Run" for 8-year old Dylan Hall. His nickname is "Dill Pickle."

Dylan was born days before Thanksgiving with several health complications that required his family to stay in the hospital until he was healthy enough to leave.

His mother decided to organize this race help other families with sick children who stay at the Ronald McDonald house in Savannah.

“When your kid is so sick that they need to be in the hospital long-term, the only thing you care about is being as close to them as possible. And being able to be there for them every minute that you’re allowed to be in the hospital. And that’s where the Ronald McDonald House provides food, it provides a safe space, bedrooms,” said Lara Hall, Dylan's mother.

All of the money raised from the event will go to the Ronald McDonald House of the Coastal Empire.
