Trial Begins in Restaurant Slaying

One of the two men accused of killing a manager at Church's Chicken on Savannah's west side last year are on trial this week. Opening arguments were presented today in the case against Derek Horne.

Police say he and Charles Hill killed Sean Abraham during a robbery attempt in February of 2004. Abraham and another employee were doing routine maintenance at the restaurant when police say Horne and Hill attacked them.

At some point Abraham broke away and ran, but police say the men caught up with him behind a nearby beauty salon and shot him.

Hill will be tried separately.

If convicted, Horne and Hill face life in prison.
