STATESBORO, GA (WTOC) - Georgia Southern University's president flipped the switch on the Christmas lights in Sweetheart Circle.

The celebration included a visit from Santa for pictures with the kids. The lights and decorations spotlight the oldest part of campus and the original buildings of the school.

"To host something like this in the heart of our campus on the birthday, the 110th birthday of our university, is just a special occasion," said GSU President Dr. Jaimie Hebert.

The lights will be on every evening through the month of December.
