Parris Island Home Demolition Finished

Construction can now begin on new housing for Marine families on Parris Island. The last house in Wake Village was demolished today. The homes are more than 50 years old and are being replaced with new ones.

And that's not all they're getting.

"To see these go down and to be able to know we're going to be able to build additional units here--a swimming pool, a community center--it's going to be exciting," said base housing director Rose Raber.

Before these homes were demolished, all the appliances were donated to Habitat for Humanity.
