Something new to honor the Marine Corps, and it's a first. Take a look at a new commemorative silver dollar coin, marking the Marine Corps' 230th anniversary. It's the first time the US Mint's honored a branch of the military.
The coin has the Marine Corps emblem on one side and the famous flag raising on Mount Suribachi on the other.
"There's no more storied image in the Marine Corps or the Department of Defense I would argue than the flag raising on Iwo Jima by Joe Rosenthal," said Maj. Ken White of Parris Island. "We're absolutely honored to have a coin struck in the Marine Corps' honor."
You can buy the commemorative coins starting in July. They're $39 each, with the proceeds going to help build the Marine Corps National Museum at Quantico.
