The State of Georgia is investigating allegations of inmate beatings at a Tattnall County prison. A Rogers State Prison guard went public in Atlanta this week with claims he witnessed 20 to 30 assaults by guards against inmates.
The Department of Corrections suspended the warden and three guards and promises to get to the bottom of the accusations.
"The investigation is ongoing," said the department's Johnny Sikes. "There's also a number of investigators from our internal affairs unit which are also there interviewing various inmates, staff and documents."
The guard has been reinstated to his job after he was fired for making the allegations. The case is still under investigation.
