CHATHAM CO., GA (WTOC) -

Friday was the last Chatham County Commission meeting of the year, and the last for four commissioners’ terms in office.

District 3 Commissioner Tony Center, District 5 Commissioner Yusuf Shabazz, District 6 Commissioner Lori Brady and District 8 Commissioner and Vice Chair, Dr. Priscilla Thomas were all honored for their years of service as their terms come to a close.

Receiving extra praise for her 26 years as a commissioner was Thomas, who in her time racked up many accomplishments like creating the Chatham County Youth Commission, who also honored her at Friday's meeting.

"I will always remember the love, the care, the support that each and every department in this county has given me during my stay. I wouldn't trade anything for any of these people that are working with us, you've just been a model, and I will miss each and every one of you,” said Dr. Thomas.

Rev. Chester Ellis will be sworn in as the new District 8 commissioner in January.
