It’s the holiday season and the city is decorated with lots of Christmas cheer, but you may recognize an extra blue sparkle while you’re downtown.

The windows at the Holiday Inn Express on Bay Street are lit up with blue to show our men and women in blue how much they're appreciated, especially during the holidays.

Captain Joy Gellatly from Precinct 2 reached out to neighborhood and business associations to open communication, but also to recognize the hard-working officers most of who would be working and away from their families during the holidays.

The response has been great, from different businesses putting up blue lights big and small.

Officer Marvin Williams says this warms his heart and the support makes a huge difference in the law enforcement community.

The captain was in the video showed on WTOC but she didn’t want to do an interview because she says it’s not about her but to let her officers know people are there to serve them as well.

Anyone can join in if they would like.
