SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Chatham County Youth Commission celebrated its 24th year with a reunion honoring the founder, Dr. Priscilla D. Thomas.
The celebration took place at Barnes Restaurant on Monday night. Dr. Thomas will be retiring from the Chatham County Commission this month after 25 years of elected service.
"To be recognized by what I call my children, my babies, is awesome. I never even expected anything of this nature but knowing these young people, they would want to show gratitude but they didn't have to because my love for them will be forever," said Dr. Thomas.
The Youth Commission has had more than 600 graduates since it was established in 1992. It is now directed by Savannah City Alderman Van Johnson.
