Suspect Shot During Robbery Attempt

West Bay Street in Savannah was swarming with police after a robbery attempt went bad. And this time, it went bad for one of the three suspects.

Three men walked into Top of the Line Fashions and Accessories, and at least one had a gun. The men tried to rob the store, but one of the clerks fought back, pulling out a gun and firing at the suspects, who went running from the store and fled the are in a rust-colored car.

As this was happening, it was business as usual at nearby Li'l Chick restaurant. Employees say they didn't hear a thing. "Those building are thick," said the restaurant's Susan Woods. "So I didn't really hear anything."

Woods says it is a frightening situation, but not an unusual one in this neighborhood. "You kind of get used to things that go on around here, you just have to be careful, just have to learn to be careful."

While police were on the scene, a rust-colored car pulled up to Memorial Hospital and dropped off a person with gunshot wounds, then drove away.

Police believe it was related to the shooting at Top of the Line. They're waiting for the victim to get out of the trauma unit so they can question him.

Police are asking if you have any information to call CrimeStoppers at 234.2020.
