If the challenge of a typical school year weren't enough, students at Hesse Elementary had one more task to complete before they could graduate to middle school. The Criterion-Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) is a standardized test given to all Georgia third and fifth graders.
The students must pass the test in order to be promoted to the next grade. But the news is good for Paula Caldwell's class. All their hard work paid off.
"We've all worked so hard this year trying to prepare the children," Caldwell told us. "And the children worked so hard this year, the parents have worked hard this year. So we were all so excited."
And all that effort didn't go unrewarded. Caldwell's entire fifth grade can look forward to summer vacation knowing that they all passed the exam with flying colors.
