SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - The Humane Society for Greater Savannah says their pet adoption special over the holidays helped most of the pets staying in the shelter find forever homes.
The "Name Your Price Adoption" special allowed people to adopt an animal and pay whatever they were able. The executive director says many people paid more than the normal adoption fee as a way to give back.
Because most of the animals were been adopted, her staff were able to enjoy time with family.
"It's been nice because also then over the holidays we didn't have to have as much staffing and volunteers for cleaning and regular care. So it allowed by staff and the volunteers to enjoy the holidays as well," said Executive Director Michelle Thevenin.
In total, 44 pets were adopted during the promotion last week. The Humane Society for Greater Savannah currently has about six cats and six dogs available for adoption.
