People from all over Chatham County are spending this week preparing for hurricane season. Today is the first official day of the season, and the Chatham Emergency Management Agency is taking the opportunity to make sure everyone is on the same page.
They're hosting a conference at Savannah's Desoto Hilton, covering everything from evacuation procedures to recovery tactics.
"These hurricanes have been landing all around us and eventually we're going to run out of luck and they're going to come this way," said CEMA director Phillip Webber. "I think we, as public servants, people who serve the public, need to have a level of preparedness that the public expects."
The conference wraps up tomorrow.
