We all know how important volunteers are to our community. And today in Beaufort, some recent high school graduates were honored in a big way for their service.
The Kiwanis Club of Beaufort presented $1,500 scholarships to three local graduates, Alanna Floyd, Andrew Mitchell, and Katie Gambla.
It's an honor these graduates say they're proud to accept.
"It feels really good," said Mitchell. "Every little bit helps when you're going to school. To get an extra $1,500, it gives you a little bit more breathing room as you try to prepare your finances to go to school."
Not only did all of these recipients have high GPAs, but they all put countless hours into bettering the community through a number of organizations, and it was their community service efforts that earned them the scholarships.
