A Savannah group continues to make plans for an even bigger festival this year. Savannah Pride submitted its application for its Gay and Lesbian Pride Festival to the city's Leisure Services Department this afternoon. The group plans to move the festival to River Street in September.
In the past, Savannah Pride held its gatherings at the Roundhouse Museum. They hope the River Street location will allow more people to attend.
"There was a strong part our our community that wanted to move it out into the open area and River Street seems like that's a great place," said executive director Bobby Jeffery. "It is beautiful. You have Savannah, the river, the bridge and it is just a nice place to really do it."
Savannah Pride is still waiting on city manager Michael Brown's signature. The festival is planned for Saturday, September 17.
