Youth Baseball Facilities Need Renovation

If your kids play ball, you want them to have a decent place to play. But some parents, coaches and players in Chatham County's Youth Baseball League are frustrated with the facilities.

Yesterday, several people met with county officials to talk about the problems. Wilmington Island's baseball fields have been torn up, forcing those teams to play out in west Chatham County. And there, the bathrooms aren't even up to par, and folks are getting sick of it.

"These facilities are for our kids and it would be in our kids' best interest for giving them something to do and recreational programs that we have better facilities," said coach Bob Fritz.

Fritz says county officials assured him they'll work to fix the problems. Wilmington Island's ball fields should be renovated by next season.
