Air Guardsmen Deploy for Enduring Freedom

More of our local servicemen and -women are on their way to the Middle East. More than two dozen members of the 165th Airlift Wing of the Georgia Air National Guard said tearful goodbyes to their families this afternoon before leaving for Operation Enduring Freedom.

They'll be gone for about two months. Although it's shorter than many deployments, it's still a long time to be away from your family, especially when you have a brand new baby.

"I'm going to miss my little Yana," said Staff Sgt. Charie Nicole Francis. "She's only 19 days old. She's going to be a lot bigger when I get back."

The 165th has been involved in air support since the beginning of operations in the Persian Gulf.
