If you're flying in and out of the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport, you're getting another choice when it comes to airlines. This afternoon, American Eagle, operated by American Airlines, became the seventh airline to provide service from Savannah.
The air carrier pulled out of Savannah in October of 2001, but decided to come back. They're offering three direct flights a day to Dallas, Texas.
Airport administrators say their presence in Savannah will give passengers a much-needed link to the West.
"One of the major markets, believe it or not, for Hilton Head is from the West Coast to the East Coast," said airport commission executive director Patrick Graham. "And so a jump from LA to Dallas and bang, you're in Savannah-Hilton Head. It's great for their market and of course, it's great for the Savannah market, too."
And starting next month, American Eagle will add two daily flights to Chicago.
