SC Seatbelt Law in Effect

You better buckle up if you live in or drive through South Carolina. If you don't, it could cost you. A stronger law allowing police to pull over drivers for not wearing a seatbelt went into effect at midnight.

Gov. Sanford did not veto the bill, so it automatically became law.

If caught, you'll have to pay a $25 fine, but no points will go on your driving record.
