JRTOC Competition in Liberty County

Young people from across southeast Georgia spent this week in training. Junior ROTC students from 15 high schools took part in this year's Cadet Leadership Challenge at Camp Blue Heron in Liberty County. They came from Swainsboro and Waycross and everywhere in between.

All of them were divided into teams and competed against each other in events that stress responsibility and teamwork.

"Everybody is supposed to work together as a team, and I met new people and learned new names and faces," said 2005 distinguished honor graduate Sharhonda Clayton.

"The guidance and what goes on here is all about leadership and making these cadets better citizens," said camp commandant Col. Kenneth Koetz.

Of the 178 cadets, 21 of them earned honor graduate or distinguished honor graduate distinctions.
