BEAUFORT CO., SC (WTOC) - Tuesday night's Beaufort County Board of Education meeting was standing room only. So many people coming out, they had to squeeze into the hall.
On the agenda, discussion to add a performing arts center to Whale Branch Early College High School. A lot of people expressing their concern, saying they were promised the center many years ago. That, on top of a new gym, which was approved by the board last month.
"Every high school in Beaufort County has a performing arts center and one has two. Yet they say that they won't vote for it because of money, but the superintendent has told them that the money is there. So now, it's just the matter of doing the right thing," said Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Pastor James Moore.
Superintendent Jeffrey Moss also presented a review of the district's capital plan for the next five years.
