SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - We have a winner! On Wednesday, we headed to St. James Catholic School to surprise Jackson Crosby.
He came in first place in WTOC's St. Patrick's Day Coloring Contest.
"This young man was deemed, by everyone who voted, as the best this year."
Out of 1,600 entries from 35 different schools, Jackson's was number one. He is a fifth grader at St. James, and John Wetherbee presented him with his framed entry and a gift bag.
Five other St. James students placed as well.
Crosby's picture showcases the history of St. Patrick and the meaning behind the holiday.
"Well, I wanted to draw a church because that's what St. Patrick did," Crosby explained. "He was a bishop, so I wanted to draw about that."
WTOC has been carrying on this coloring contest tradition for over 20 years.
Next for Jackson, he will help green the Forsyth Park Fountain on Friday.
