People living in Savannah's 6th district were invited to a town hall Wednesday night.

Alderman Tony Thomas hosted the meeting at the Crusader Center. Also on hand to answer questions, representatives from the City's Public Works and Sanitation department.

Wednesday's town hall was for Coffee Bluff residents only. We're told future meetings will be scheduled for those living in Wilshire, Windsor Forest and Middleground.

Metro Police Chief Jack Lumpkin was also at Wednesday’s meeting. This was the first time we are hearing from him about crime, specifically six recent shootings in a span of two days.

“We have some issues and challenges in this community. We have young people with guns that should not have guns. They're prohibited by state law from having guns. That's a parental issue. That's a community issue and that's a police issue,” said Chief Lumpkin.

Of those six shootings Sunday and Monday, a 16-year-old boy was shot and killed, and a 4-year-old child was accidentally shot in the hand.
