POOLER, GA (WTOC) -

Georgia State Patrol confirmed to WTOC that there has been a chase and crash involving a Pooler Police Department vehicle at the intersection of Quacco Road and Pine Barren Road.

A male suspect got into a Pooler Police SUV at Pooler Parkway and Maxwell Drive around 3:20 p.m. Police are still investigating why the cars were initially stopped at that location.

"When I arrived on the scene, there was a Pooler Police vehicle here at the intersection of Pine Barren Road and Quacco Road in the ditch that had been involved in a crash. We do believe speed and, also, alcohol would be a factor in this collision,” said GSP Trooper Dustin Stone.

Troopers will not comment on how fast the suspect was going.

The suspect is in custody. No officers were injured in the chase.
