City council does not override Guyton police chief’s termination

GUYTON, GA (WTOC) - Guyton Police Chief Kelphie Lundy's termination is now official.

A special called public hearing was held by Guyton's mayor and city council Thursday night. Six witnesses took the stand. A few detailed their experiences with Chief Lundy citing harassment, even filing grievances against him.

Council voted 2 to 1 to keep Chief Lundy on but they did not override the mayor's removal of the chief, which would have required three votes.
