Savannah’s Alee Temple hosts annual Irish Heritage Dance

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Savannah's Alee Temple turned green for the society's annual event, the Irish Heritage Dance.

The Irish Heritage Society was formed in 1973.  The dance - over 20 years running - is held for members, their families and guests.

It's one of many fundraisers to benefit local organizations.

One family you may be familiar with is the Counihan's.

"For the first time in the history of the parade committee - as far as we know - we have a general chairman of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, Brian Counihan, my brother, the Grand Marshal, Dennis Counihan and I'm the president and the aide to the grand marshal," said Irish Heritage Society President Jerry Counihan.

Friday night, there was live music, a raffle of Irish spirits and of course, dancing!
