SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Emergent Savannah hosted "The Common Root: Immigration Stories at Home" at the Sentient Bean on Monday.
Locals shared their own immigration stories along with discussing President Donald Trump's travel ban. Organizers say it is to help connect and work together.
"What we hope will happen tonight is that people will draw closer to one another. We will take a deep look at each other as people, and, a look at what is going on politically in this country and then people can decide what that means to them," said Tom Kohler, with Emergent Savannah.
Monday's event was hosted by Diego Garcia of Savannah Undocumented Youth Alliance.
