One person who'll challenge Gov. Perdue next November is already on the campaign trail. Secretary of state Cathy Cox has announced she wants to be the first female to run the capitol.
Cox was in Statesboro last night and today to speak to the American Legion's Boys State and Girls State camps. A year and a half before the big election, she is confident.
"The polling so far is very favorable for us, and the support we've picked up--from expected and unexpected places--I think Georgia is looking for a change in the tone and tune of government," she said.
Fellow Democrat Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor has also announced plans to run for governor.
